Ties to the Land XXIII : Stott Park Bobbin Mill, Lake District

Field Notes

Stott Park Bobbin Mill in the English Lake District employed many people in it hey day from those who managed the woodland which provided the wood through to the people (including children as young as 8) who actually worked in the mill making bobbins for thread and yarn.  Now its a very a enjoyable tourist attraction, but we should not delude ourselves that there was anything romantic about working in such place earning a living through piece rate work creating and finishing bobbins.
