The Lake District lies in the North West corner of England. From the Western Lakes of Eskdale and Wastwater, to Grasmere, Rydal and the honeypots of Ambleside and Bowness. Its an area made famous by William Wordsworth and his daffodils and its photogenic beauty. With that fame comes the romance of a pastoral romantic country idyll of a lush green wild countryside. The Lakes are a man made landscape created through thousands of years of use to what it is now. Not that that should detract from your enjoyment of the Lake District! Just be mindful its not as wild as you might first believe.
