TEMPUS EDAX RERUM

time, devourer of all things

“Tempus Edax Rerum”, or “time devourer of all things”, is my latest photography project.  It is my initial response to a move back to digital photography from what has been at least 5 years of mainly shooting film.  This shift has been brought about by pressures of time at working and at home, with the intention of spending less time scanning and developing films and actually to spend more time making photographs.

Ironically, after an initial disconnect (see here), I’ve started using a type of filter called a “Big Stopper” which dramatically extends the time it takes take a photograph from seconds to minutes.  At the same time, it does introduce an almost dream like effect with blurred clouds and waves.

It is early days yet, but I think this project may have some legs in it and may go on for a while – as I study what digital has to offer me and what effect time can have on our surroundings.
