When I enter a competition, I’m quite low key about it, as I never win, so no point flagging up the fact you entered, when you ultimately don’t win.  Whilst I haven’t “won”, I have been commended (or is that condemned?) with my photograph “Quadrathon”  in this year’s Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year in the Seascapes category.  I wouldn’t say it was my favourite image that I submitted and looking back on it I would have done something about the dark patch in the middle foreground – but I’ll take recognition where I get it.  On the plus side, I still don’t need to update my biography 🙂

Away from the lovely sandy beaches at Luskentyre on Harris in the Outer Hebrides, at the end of the road, beyond the beach there lies a fort, a wheel house, a blackhouse and this unusual rock arrangement. As ever with what I think had been the 3rd wettest and the 4th dullest July on record for the Outer Hebrides I err’d towards using a long exposure to create a little bit of drama in the skies.

You can see more of my landscape photography from the Outer Hebrides here.

I’ve included a gallery of the other entries I submitted to the Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year competition.
