Whilst on the way up to the Onlandscape landscape photography conference, I made the point of going a bit “cross country” in order to visit Scaleber Force which lies just out side of Settle on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. I think I must have missed “peak autumn” by a couple of days as most of the trees were well on their way to shedding their autumal colours. That said, it did mean that the floor of this little area was awash with brilliant coppers, organges and yellows, made all the better with the dappled light coming through the clouds overhead..
I’m still getting to grips with my tilt shift lens, so visiting here with its abundance of foreground interest, allowed me to spend an enjoyable hour or so before pressing on to conference.
How to get to Scaleber Force
Just in case you stumbled across this post trying to find out how to get to Scaleber Force, here’s a map on how to get there. There is ample parking just off road a couple of hundred metres aways or so, where there is a sharp 90 degree turn, as the old road continues straight on.
Care should be taken getting down to falls, as the path is narrow, steep and the steeps can get slippy, even without leaves on them.
