I haven’t been able to get out with the sole intent of “doing” photography for a good six months (probably more). I needed to get out and decompress – and I think I achieved that on Friday. Sat up on Curbar Edge in the Peak District looking down the Derwent Valley towards Chatsworth House shrouded in the mist, and hearing the red deer stags bark near by, all the while enjoying a coffee and having Udal (my dog) snuggle close for a bit of attention.
Despite using binoculars, I couldn’t see the stags in the pre-dawn light, but given the noise, they were close What I could see down the valley was mist settled around Chatsworth. So having enjoyed the sounds of Curbar Edge, I jumped in the van and headed for the weir near the old mill at Carlton Lees in the Chatsworth Estate. With mist rising off the water breaking over the weir the conditions persisted for longer than I had expected, holding off against the sun cresting over the hill for quite sometime.
