A Daughter Lost, Long Meg and Her Daughters, Cumbria

Field Notes

A farm track and passing place drives it way through the late Neolithic/early Bronze Age stone circle of Long Meg and Her Daughters in Cumbria.   The use of land continues to change from a place of veneration to a place of food – both in their way giving sustenance.

Long Meg is a large outlier to the stone circle (The Daughters). Long Meg and Her Daughter’s is quite an ample site and a lot quieter than the more heavily frequented Castlerigg Stone Circle.  For more information visit here.
